SANFORD IMAGENETICS
An interactive feature that tells the genetic story of the participant.
Our Approach
Heavy worked with Second Story to bring their vision of a truly interactive art installation to life. The Sanford Imaginetics project in South Dakota provides visitors to the Sandford Health Campus with an immersive experience based around the premise that each human is 99.9% similar in their genetic makeup, with each cube representing a piece of the genetic code.
The Opportunity
Visitors are invited to engage with the work via a multisensory kiosk featuring touch screens and an interactive program that encourages participation.
Voice and facial inputs trigger on-screen visualizations inspired by the unique patterns of DNA, and these inputs are then transmitted to the light sculptures overhead as animated patterns of light. Second Story designed the entire environment to be “utilized as a storytelling canvas, sparking curiosity about genetics and introducing patients to a realm of wondrous possibility for health care.”
