YARDSTONES
Residential negatives turned into a significant positive for Toronto’s Bentway revitalization.
Our Approach
Heavy was engaged by renowned artist Adad Hannah to help facilitate the planning, construction and installation of 3 monolithic concrete sculptures in Toronto’s revived Bentway.
The Opportunity
Created from pre-cast concrete and sculpted shotcrete, these three Adad Hannah designed sculptures are a nod to the historical industrial past of Toronto’s waterfront. Each piece represents a large stone with a section of the piece missing in the shape of a portion of a house, including the negatives of brickwork, shingles, sloped roof, windows, etc.
The blue architectural panels were pre-cast in our facility from Cloudcrete. The mass of the sculptures are made of sculpted shotcrete that was blast onto a steel framework and galvanized mesh.
