CANADA’S LARGEST FIREPLACE

Gather, connect, and converse around Canada’s largest fireplace in the spirit of the Calgary Stampede.

Our Approach

Along with the iconic neon cowboy, the Pavilion Lights canopy, and several other features in the BMO Centre, Heavy was thrilled to be part of designing, fabricating, and installing Canada’s largest indoor fireplace.

The Opportunity

The fireplace is a 21 meter tall 6mm laser-cut blackened steel structure with an inlay of powder coated copper, playing on the theme of the Calgary Stampede’s rich history of blacksmithing.

The monumental scale of this feature required Heavy’s expertise in detailed design, material and fabrication approaches, and a thorough install process.

With safety in mind, the ‘fire’ is created by simply shooting vaporized water up with led lights positioned underneath to look like flames.
