Harmony’s Cultivate provides true focus on art and culture.
Dan Corson’s Cultivate brings echoes of the past mixed with contemporary sense of discovery. Through the PLAN—BUILD™ process, Heavy brought this sculpture to life successfully while alleviating the pressure typically experienced on complex projects.
The Opportunity
While exploring Harmony, one of Calgary’s newest communities, you will be greeted by an iconic sculptural installation that references the past, present and future of the area.
Cultivate is a collaborative art project by artist Dan Corson and facilitated by Heavy for developers Bordeaux Properties and Qualico Communities Calgary.
The Approach
Cultivate brings to life the vision of Corson, who recalls the rich history of farming in the area.
Cultivate consists of three internally lit plow sculptures, ranging in height from 16 to 23 feet. The sculptures were fabricated from weathering steel, and internally painted gold.
Like all projects that come through Heavy’s doors, every aspect of Cultivate was thoroughly considered in order to ensure the artists vision was maintained, while the budget and schedule met expectations.
