A place to ponder at the river’s edge.
A waterfront park named after its unique ability to funnel people into the public art space, Delta Gardens strengthens the city’s pathway network while reinforcing the importance of the Bow River as a place for recreation and urban life.
The Opportunity
To support the entire creative process, creating a place of tranquility for the city of Calgary.
The Approach
We collaborated with the O2 Design team from design, through the build and fabrication, finally installing the benches and planters that line pathways through Calgary’s West Eau Claire Park.
The project team refined the design to utilize a series of molds to be used with Cloudcrete, allowing the same pieces to be utilized multiple times for each planter. By using Cloudcrete, the team was able to meet the requirements for creating complex geometric shapes, while also reducing time and material costs associated with cast concrete.
Running East of the planters are lengthy wood-clad, ergonomic benches that further establish West Eau Claire Park as one of the best places to gather in Calgary.
