Nepenthese Paisley Portrait 3.jpg

Tried and tested with a fresh spin.

Beautifully sculpted pitcher-like flower shapes form a quartet of monoliths and serve as a meeting place that interact with those who walk past at night.

The Opportunity

Heavy’s oversight of the conceptual design process provided value to Brookfield by bringing the talent of Dan Corson to the table early, while locking in cost and schedule certainty that moved the project quickly and efficiently through the remaining PlanBuild stages.

The Approach

Located in Brookfield Residential’s south Edmonton neighbourhood of Paisley, these internally-lit sculptures face each other in a quartet and use a motion sensor to trigger dynamic lighting scripts that interact with users.

This is the second time Heavy has fabricated this form of sculpture for Dan Corson, the first round being installed in Portland, Oregon. The sculptures are made of semi-transparent fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) with internal steel frames and pre-cast concrete base caps.
